Mariupol warns Russia is preparing to shut down city to ‘filter’ all men for forced service, labor

Advisor to the Mariupol town mayor warned Saturday that Russian troops are planning to shut down the town by April 18 and will “filter” all males for compelled service, labor or “isolation.”

“Occupiers report that on Monday they will not only ultimately near all entries and exits to the city for absolutely everyone, but will institute a ban on motion throughout all neighborhoods for a 7 days. For the duration of this time, 100% of the city’s remaining male population will be “filtered’,” Petro Andriushchenko said in a Telegram post translated by Ukrainian news outlet Ukrayinska Pravda.


“Some folks will be mobilized to the Russian profession corps, some will be forcibly deployed to clear the rubble, and all those classified as unreliable will be isolated,” he added, noting that those who are deported will be taken to a camp in Novoazovsk.

Mariupol Mayor Vadym Boychenko explained last week that around 31,000 people have been forcibly deported and despatched to Russian “filtration camps” in Novoazovsk – a Ukrainian border city 35 miles from Mariupol and just 9 miles from the Russian border. 

Novoazovsk is found in the Donetsk People’s Republic – a breakaway region in Ukraine’s most japanese entrance that has been backed by Russian forces and engaged in armed conflict with the Ukrainian army since 2014.

Protection officers have warned that Russia is arranging to use all its out there drive in the eastern Ukraine Donbas region following it unsuccessful to get the capital town of Kyiv soon after around a months-value of battling.

The camp, which is believed to be housing a lot more than 145 small children, is a previous Russian military services base 600 miles from the Ukrainian border and was reportedly employed as a munitions dump for Soviet chemical bombs soon after Earth War II.
