Former Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms says she was denied service at a restaurant because she wore leggings

Previous Atlanta mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms stated she was turned away from a nearby restaurant simply because of her outfit.

Bottoms shared a Twitter put up on Friday afternoon in which she mentioned the alleged incident took place at The Cash Grille at Perimeter Shopping mall.

“I was just turned away at @CapitalGrille at Perimeter Mall since I have on leggings,” Bottoms, 52, wrote.

The tweet garnered far more than 18,000 likes and additional than 5,400 comments at the time of publishing, some of which pointed out that The Cash Grille has a gown code. The restaurant’s website notes that health and fitness center attire, tank tops, hats, clothes with offensive language or images, and uncovered clothes are prohibited.

Bottoms wrote in a different Twitter submit that it was “odd” that the cafe did not allow what she regarded “mall” attire in spite of getting situated in the vicinity of just one.

“Odd that a restaurant in a mall parking lot turns away prospects in ‘mall’ attire. Requested if I could sit in the bar space and was told, “No,” Bottoms wrote.

Bottoms ongoing that she comprehended the establishment’s procedures but questioned if other patrons had comparable experiences.

“Guidelines are the principles, just surprise if the woman who came in promptly soon after me, who I did not see arrive back again out, was also denied company,” Bottoms wrote.

Reps for Bottoms and The Funds Grille did not straight away reply to Insider’s ask for for comment.

Daniel Newman, an actor who starred in “The Going for walks Dead,” appeared to protect Bottoms in a Twitter put up on Saturday. Newman shared screenshots of white patrons eating at The Funds Grille wearing health and fitness center apparel and leggings.

“BLACK Democrat Mayor of Atlanta (my Close friend) Keisha Lance Bottoms was refused provider at @CapitalGrille,” Newman wrote. “But WHITE Folks in Gym dresses and T-shirts are absolutely great at Capital grille.”

Newman adopted up with a 2nd tweet where he described his ordeals even though dining at The Funds Grille.

“I individually have long gone to capital Grille lots of times in a Wife beater or T-shirt and or health club shorts. Several moments. In no way had a trouble getting a seat,” Newman wrote. “I guess my clothes looked whiter.”
